Before You Watch: WandaVision
It is no doubt that the Marvel Cinematic Universe isn't the most straightforward thing, with 23 films currently available to watch and many more films and series on the way - now is definitely to the best time to catch up on all things Marvel.
I've had questions from a lot of people who are unsure about WandaVision and where to start with the Marvel films. "Do I have to watch them all?" - a common one amongst many. In today's post, I will cover what I believe to be the necessary material to watch before you watch WandaVision, with all the content available on Disney+. I won't discuss major spoilers, but there could be some mild spoilers, but none that will ruin your viewing of the films
Avengers: Age of Ultron
This is the starting point of your viewing, as this film introduces us to the two main characters seen in WandaVision - Wanda and Vision! We first meet Wanda Maximoff as she is held captive with her brother Pietro, as they are experimented on by HYDRA, they later escape and team up with Ultron for the majority of the film, until they inevitably become the Avengers we know them to be. Vision also makes his first MCU appearance in Age of Ultron, and we learn of his origins as he is created partly from Iron Man's Assistant AI, J.A.R.V.I.S and also the Mind Stone, one of the six infinity stones
Captain America: Civil War
More so for the fact it plays a large role in setting up the final Avengers films, it is also the next time we get to see Wanda and Vision back in action - this time on opposing sides as Iron Man and Captain America face off. Wanda discovers the benefits but also weaknesses of having powers early on in the film and ultimately builds a wedge between the two.
Avengers: Infinity War
The film starts off with Wanda and Vision living a low-key and quiet life in Edinburgh, Scotland keeping a low profile after the events of Civil War. We get quite a lot of Wanda and Vision content in this film, with Vision also being one of the main plot points, with Thanos going after the Infinity Stones, with one just happening to be inside Vision's head.
The second part to Infinity War and the finale of the Infinity Saga. This film is important as it gives us an idea of where both Wanda and Vision are heading into WandaVision, and also has some kick-ass Wanda moments, teasing her immense powers we are yet to see reach their potential. Which I'm sure we'll see unfold in WandaVision
Thor, and Thor: The Dark Word
This is totally up to you, but if you fancy gaining a background into who Darcy Lewis is, a character set to star in WandaVision - then I definitely recommend watching the two Thor films, however, if not, it will not ruin the ultimate experience for WandaVision in my opinion
Alternatively, you can read about Darcy Lewis on the MCU Wiki here
Ant-Man and the Wasp
Similar to the Thor films, Agent Jimmy Woo appears in the sequel Ant-Man film and once again it is completely up to you if you wish to watch the film.

It is no surprise that Geraldine is not who she seems in WandaVision, and many fans already know that "Geraldine" is also known as Monica Rambeau, last seen as a child in Captain Marvel. Optional as it is, Captain Marvel plays an active role in the set-up of what we now know to be S.W.O.R.D and probably the most important of the optional viewings!
I hope you enjoyed this little mini piece on what to watch before you watch WandaVision if you're having any doubts or worries about not having seen all the MCU films! You can find myself (@JoshM_Jones) and also Mo (@StreamingBuffer) over on Twitter
