What I'll Be Streaming on #StarOnDisneyPlus
Quite a different article today, I thought I'd go into what I'll be streaming on Star when it launches in just two weeks’ time on Disney+. There's a lot of content making its way to the service and a lot I'm really excited about as I've not had the chance to watch a lot, whether it's down to a show not streaming or just never having the chance to watch it when it's aired or been released in cinemas.
24 is a serial drama starring Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer about the efforts of the fictional Counter Terrorist Unit to protect the United States from terrorist plots. The episodes take place over the course of one hour, depicting events as they happen, in real-time.
Each episode typically follows Bauer, officials in the U.S. government, and the conspirators behind the events of the day, often simultaneously. 24 is known for employing plot twists which may arise as antagonists adapt, objectives evolve, or larger-scale operations unfold. Stories also involve interpersonal drama, delving into the private lives of the characters. As part of a recurring theme, characters are frequently confronted with ethical dilemmas.
Probably one of my favourite series of all time – one I have watched with my Mum for a while. We had the DVD boxset many moons ago, so I’m excited to have the option to binge-watch the adventures of Jack Bauer and CTU once again, and if I feel like it – who knows, I may even watch 24: Legacy – the spin-off series which was cancelled after one season… so it’s definitely worth a watch…
Solar Opposites (Star Original)
A team of four aliens escape their exploding homeworld only to crash land into a move-in ready home in suburban America. They are evenly split on whether Earth is awful or awesome. Korvo (Justin Roiland) and Yumyulack (Sean Giambrone) only see the pollution, crass consumerism, and human frailty while Terry (Thomas Middleditch) and Jesse (Mary Mack) love humans and all their TV, junk food and fun stuff. Their mission: protect the Pupa, a living supercomputer that will one day evolve into its true form, consume them, and terraform the Earth.
This is definitely something I’m looking forward to – I’ve seen a few trailers and clips and definitely think this is a series I can get along with. As it is a STAR Original, each new episode will debut weekly rather than the show dropping all 8 episodes on Day One – I’ve already shared my views on this over on Twitter, and to summarise – fair enough on Disney’s behalf, they want to keep as many people subscribed and by doing weekly releases they can do this. Worth noting there will be a new episode of a Marvel series this year debuting on Disney+, with Marvel Legends episodes bridging the gaps between the MCU series throughout 2021, so it could be asked does Disney need weekly releases for other shows? Yes, not everyone is subscribed to Disney+ for Marvel alone…
A horrific plane crash leaves 48 passengers alive and stranded on a remote island in the South Pacific. The survivors include doctor Jack, now freed prisoner Kate, one-hit-wonder rock star Charlie, Iraqi military vet Sayid, and a mysterious man named Locke. For a while, their goal is simple survival, but they soon realize that it was far more than mere chance that brought them together, and each of them has a purpose that will help them unlock the island's secrets.
I have never seen The series however I know my parents watched it and I believe Mo has watched it as well. Definitely, one that I'm not gonna watch straight away because I'd rather watch other things first, however, is still high up on my list of things I'm wanting to watch on Star.
Independence Day and Independence Day: Resurgence
I don't recollect watching the first film in the franchise, however, I saw the sequel in cinema a few years ago. I'm sure I have seen the first film, though I plan on watching both films again when star arrives on the 23rd of February.
